Susan Leath, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in media leadership and organizational innovation, is the President and CEO of Leath Consultant Group, LLC—a management consulting firm specializing in enhancing organizational effectiveness, developing revenue streams, communication strategies, and stakeholder relationships.
Susan's impactful career includes serving as COO for The GroundTruth Project home of Report for America and Report for the World, where she leveraged her extensive experience to drive strategic, financial, and operational success.
Her career highlights also encompass leadership at the University of North Carolina's Hussman School of Journalism, and Media where she directed the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Local Media. Noteworthy initiatives under her guidance include US News Desert research, UNC Knight Foundation's Newsroom Table Stakes Program, Google News Initiative's Project Oasis, Reese Innovation Lab, and the Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting.
In her role as a former regional President of USA Today Networks media groups, Susan adeptly repositioned the brand as a multimedia platform in Delaware and Maryland. Her strategic prowess improved marketplace positioning and fortified value propositions through optimized core and new revenue streams.
Beyond her corporate achievements, Susan is a dedicated advocate for diversity and inclusion in media. She contributes actively by serving on the board of directors of the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education—an pivotal organization addressing systemic media diversity challenges. Additionally, as Chair of the Ida B. Wells Society's board of advisors, she champions increased representation in investigative reporting.
